Position Summary
The CNC Machinist produces machined parts by operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine while maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies. The role requires excellence within Tecomet’s principles of continuous improvement, customer‑driven innovation, and a win‑first culture while meeting company financial and performance metrics.
Responsibilities- Operate CNC machines within specified tolerances following work instructions and engineering drawings.
- Change dull tooling and make minor offsets or adjustments as needed for tooling wear.
- Achieve product quality by applying operator‑owned quality (OOQ) standards using measuring equipment and interpreting inspection reports.
- Perform routine maintenance per daily machine checklist and adhere to preventive maintenance schedule.
- Perform hand finishing and maintain 5S/housekeeping standards within the work area.
- Follow Good Manufacturing and Good Document Practices (GMP/GDP), completing job routers/cards.
- Minimize risks by identifying and reporting safety, health & environmental issues.
- Meet set productivity targets and continuously identify ways to improve productivity.
- Record all activities promptly in the job tracking system.
- Support continuous improvement activities and support team initiatives.
- Escalate manufacturing issues to the Team Leader or Supervisor and participate in resolution.
- Perform other duties or special projects as required or assigned by supervisor.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Experience working in a production environment (E/D) required.
- Associate’s degree/certificate in Tooling & Machining or Machinist apprenticeship preferred.
- GCSE/NVQ Math and English desirable (UK only).
- Operate and maintain a CNC machine.
- Solid math skills, including measuring and record keeping.
- Plan, prioritize, and organize tasks with the ability to handle competing demands within specified timescales.
- Follow work instructions with a proven record of quality and on‑time production runs.
- Commitment to safety at all times.
- Attention to detail and ability to perform repeatable tasks over a prolonged period.
- Positive attitude, reliability, and teamwork.
- Identify problems and escape as required.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid computer skills.
