Overview
Our Washington Rd. location is seeking Dental Assistants to support our Dentists!
The dental assistant’s primary responsibility is to assist the dentist with clinical procedures. This includes chair-side assisting, x-rays, taking alginate impressions, and screening emergency patients. The assistant will be expected to assist in four-handed dental procedures including, but not limited to, initial exams, periodontal maintenance, amalgam and composite restorations, endodontics, oral surgery, crown and bridge, and removable prosthodontics. By the end of the assistant’s training period, he or she will be expected to be proficient in all routine procedures performed in the clinic.
ResponsibilitiesRoom Preparation and Turnover
- Prepare room set up for standard and specialty procedures
- Prepare handpieces for laboratory and operatory use
- Prepare for medical emergencies
- Disinfect the operatory according to company standards
- Assist in sterilization areas as necessary
- Maintain operatory equipment according to manufacturer guidelines
- Dispose of waste and hazardous materials in compliance with OSHA/EPA/FDA/NIOSH regulations
- Welcome and dismiss patient in a professional and courteous manner
- Take digital x-rays (Pan, BWX’s, PAs)
- Obtain, interpret, and evaluate personal, medical, and dental histories
- Take and record patient vitals
- Demonstrate four-handed instrument transfer
- Prepare and assist with the administration of topical and local anesthesia
- Prepare mounting and articulation of study models for impressions
- Fabricate temporaries for crowns and bridges
- Pour and trim cast/model
- Prepare and assist with restorative treatment
- Prepare and assist with varnish and fluoride applications
- Prepare and assist with minor, oral surgery, and endodontic therapy procedures
- Prepare and assist with alginate impression
- Chart oral condition as dictated by dentist
- Explain postoperative and preoperative instructions to the patient
- Schedule follow-up appointment
- Properly label and input tooth/teeth numbers into the patient electronic chart
- Review doctors schedule before patient visit for scheduling errors and lab case preparation
- Preferred graduate from an Accredited Dental Assistant Program/School
- Minimum of 1 year experience in dental assisting position
- Ability to communicate in Spanish (oral and written) preferred
- Must be current on all ACIP immunizations & PPD status
- Must maintain BLS Certification
Open availability to work between 32 - 40 hours during clinic operating hours. Clinics generally operate Monday – Thursday, 7am – 7pm, Friday, 7am – 5pm and Saturdays 7am – 3pm. The provider-specific schedule initially consists of four ten-hour shifts.
