Work Schedule
Sundays 12–5 pm. This is a 5‑hour per week position, but additional hours may be available based on museum needs.
ResponsibilitiesUnder general supervision of the Museum Director or their designee, Museum Aides assist with educational programs and provide information about the Museums to visitors of the Dinosaur Discovery Museum. They may also provide backup support to the Kenosha Public Museum Aide.
- Welcome visitors and provide positive public relations
- Provide information on museum activities and exhibits
- Set up and facilitate the dinosaur dig activity for visitors
- Oversee and direct the Dinosaur Discovery Museum’s visitor experience in the Little Clint:
The Story of a Baby Dinosaur exhibit - Assist Lab Supervisor and Education Department staff in the facilitation and evaluation of public programs
- Keep current on museum activities and share details with visitors
- Provide extra security by observing visitors
- Perform related duties as assigned
- Prior experience providing customer service and/or working with the public is desired.
- Must be age 16 or older.
- Must successfully complete a pre‑employment drug test and, if 18 or older, a background check.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written orders.
- Ability to interact with visitors from pre‑school age through adult.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and the public.
- Skill in operation of general office equipment.
- Ability to handle reasonably necessary stress.
- Task involves some physical effort, i.e. some standing and walking, bending, frequent light lifting (5–10 pounds); infrequent moderately heavy lifting (20–50 pounds); dexterity in the use of fingers, limbs or body.
- Task may involve extended periods of time standing or sitting at a customer service area.
Task is regularly performed with minimal exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
Sensory Requirements- Task requires sound perception and discrimination.
- Task requires visual perception and discrimination.
- Task requires oral communications ability.
Applicant's education, training and experience will be analyzed. Written, oral and/or proficiency exams may be given to determine if the applicant has the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities. Appointment to the position will be in accordance with City policy & the Civil Service Rules. The City of Kenosha reserves the right to further evaluate only those applicants who best meet the needs of the City.
