Casual Lifeguard/Instructor

Hours of Work:
Casual employment with hours determined as per staffing & program requirements.

Hourly Wage: $18.20 - $24.26 per hour based on certifications as per the IBEW Collective Agreement; all other benefits as per ESA.

Job Summary

This position requires applicants to be a minimum 15 years of age.

Lifeguard
:
To use trained lifeguard techniques to effectively supervise swimmers, prevent aquatic injury, enforce rules to patrons, and obtain emergency medical assistance as required.

Instructor
:
To instruct children and adults in swimming skills and water safety knowledge; to teach entry level leadership courses which instruct candidates to respond to increasingly complex rescue situations.

Position Requirements

Successful applicants must be 18 years of age or older and submit a clean Criminal Background/Vulnerable Sector check at their own expense prior to their start date.

Required Certifications
  • Valid Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard certification, or equivalent
  • Workplace Standard First Aid/CPR Level C Certification
Preferred Certifications or Willingness to Obtain
  • Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certification
  • Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor certification
  • Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Trainer certification
  • Waterfit Instructor
