Job Summary:Approaches to Community Wellbeing (ACW) is a regional resource to 31 First Nations communities. ACW provides expertise, support, services, and programming in public health to the region.
The Promoter – Preventing Infectious Diseases is responsible for facilitating the delivery of health promotion programming to support the prevention of infectious diseases in First Nations individuals and communities supported by Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority.
The Promoter – Preventing Infectious Diseases is directly accountable to the Manager – Preventing Infectious Diseases.
Qualifications:- Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment)
- College diploma in a health-related field or a combination of education/experience as deemed acceptable by SLFNHA
- A minimum of two years’ experience in a health setting
- Experience working in a First Nations health setting is an asset
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Strong organizational and facilitation skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office, graphic design software, and other computer software
- Knowledge of the culture, history, geographical location, and health priorities of the First Nations communities in the Sioux Lookout region
- Valid Ontario G driver’s licence
- The ability to speak in one of the Sioux Lookout area First Nations dialects, and/or write in syllabics are definite assets
- Ability to perform the requirements of the role on a regular basis
