Job Summary
The Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre is seeking a Physician Assistant who, under the direction and supervision of a physician, will work as a member of the clinical team to provide care to patients and their families with a responsible and professional approach.
Qualifications- Graduate of a recognized Physician Assistant program.
- Certified or eligible to be certified through the Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada (PACCC) or certification with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Active membership in good standing with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants.
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement and willingness to actively participate in continuous quality improvement activities/initiatives.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to prioritize, organize and work independently as well as a team member.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Collaborate with all physicians, nurses, professional staff, etc., to ensure quality in patient care.
- Conduct comprehensive physical and mental assessments of patients and interpret findings. This includes assessment of vital signs and examination of all major body systems (i.e.: psychosis, intoxication, overdose etc.)
- Request and interpret diagnostic tests (i.e.: laboratory, X-ray, ultrasounds, etc.) and communicate results thoroughly to patients.
- Acquire health history as appropriate, including patient demographics, history of an illness or injury, past medical, surgical, family and psychosocial history, medications, allergies and systems review.
- Formulate and implement treatment plans while monitoring patients’ progress and response to treatment.
- Develop ethical, professional and trustworthy relationships with patients, families and the health care team.
- Collect blood samples, body secretions and body fluids.
- Participate in research and academic initiatives.
- Provide patient care in a manner that is consistent with SLMHC mission and reflects core values.
$51.62 – $60.73 (Salary and Benefits in accordance with qualifications and experience)
