Temporary Full-Time Occupational Therapist
The Dryden Regional Health Centre is seeking to fill the following position:
Temporary Full-Time Occupational Therapist
. Reporting to the Manager of Rehabilitation Services, the Occupational Therapist applies a broad range of clinical skills to assess, treat, and support patients through their recovery journey. You will be part of a collaborative Rehabilitation team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, rehab assistants, and kinesiologists who provide inpatient, outpatient, home care, and Family Health Team program support. This role focuses on maximizing independence, promoting safe transitions, and enhancing overall quality of life, while working closely with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Home care adult caseload, and inpatients as required.
- Performing clinical assessments and appropriate interventions in the adult population in their homes.
- Working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team to provide care and successful planning for patients to remain as independent as possible
- Assessments for mobility devices, wheelchair prescription, home safety assessments, bathroom safety assessments, bathroom equipment recommendations, falls prevention teaching, kitchen assessments, cognitive assessments
- Provide recommendations for managing changes in cognition, patient and family/care giver education
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Registration, or eligibility for Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
- Preference given to applicants who are Registered Assistive Devices Program (ADP) Authorize rs in the Ambulation Aids, Wheelchair and Positioning Devices/Seating categories
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Demonstrated ability to apply theoretical knowledge in problem solving and troubleshooting
- Ability to communicate clearly, teach, problem solve and organize
- Flexibility and willingness to work as part of team
- Effective organizational and written skills
- Proficient computer skills
- Able to work and manage a case load independently and with other multi-disciplinary team members
