About the role

As a Mine Planner at Evolutions Red Lake Operation, you will join a high-performing, dedicated team responsible for the delivery of all executable mining plans. With 4 key mining zones across new and historic orebodies, your deliverables will include short term mine schedules, development and stope designs with associated prints. To ensure compliance to design you will be responsbile for daily data tracking and reconiclaiton processes.

Working closesly with our mining teams and contracting partners you will drive continuous improvement with stope designs and drill and blast pracitces via improvement projects, time spent in field and QAQC. This role is to recruit for an existing vacancy.

The position will be on an 5/2/4/3 (9.5 – hour day) roster and will be based residentially in Red Lake, Ontario.

  • Provide prints (development, production drill, production charge, backfill) in alignment with engineering standards to ensure production requirements are met as per budget
  • Ensure that up to date relevant information, such as geological and survey data is used to create prints with consideration given to risk (safety, business, operational), profitability and quality control
  • Develop Stope Designs and documenet in conjunction with other departments such as Geology, Ventilation, Rock Mechanics and Mining teams, ensuring stope notes are approved in advance of the mine schedule. At the conclusion of the stope complete reconciliation and participate in reconcilation review meetings.
  • Select and justify proper longhole drill patterns and blast timing with appropriate blasting products selected.
  • Maintain Drill and Blast master with designs and daily actuals
  • Stay current of activities within respective headings and remain abreast of production, development and drilling rates to accurately schedule and prioritize required work.
  • Work jointly with Underground Supervisors and Superintendents to develop daily and weekly plans. Faciltate the weekly forecast and compliance meetings
  • Conduct weekly visits to all active headings (as a minimum) with the Mine Supervisors and/or Team Leads to discuss plans and involve crews. Demonstrate safety leadership during visits.
  • Attend and participate in daily crew meetings. Organize additional crew meetings as required.
  • Use financial and economic data to ensure all mine plans are cost efficient.
  • Lead and engage in continuous improvement projects to achieve budgets, production, operating and cost efficiencies
  • Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.

  • About you

    As a Planner Mine, it is important that you have a degree in Mine Engineering or related field. Alternatively, that you possess an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma with several years of mining experience in the Engineering or Mine department, with extensive drafting experience. Possessing an Ontaio Professional Engineering license is an asset, but not required. It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:

  • Demostrated mine design and drafting experience in underground narrow vein gold mining or other hard rock comodities desirable
  • CAD drafting skills
  • Familiar with engineering design concepts, mining methods & cycles
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act for Mines & Mining Plants
  • Proficient in Deswik Suite or demonstrated working knowledge of other CAD programs
  • Proficient in Micrsoft office suite
  • Good organizational and planning abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Capable of effectively following written procedures
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and projects
  • Possesses strong work ethic and displays initiative
  • Learns and adapts quickly to new software
  • Capable of working independently with limited supervision
