Location: Red LakeAbout the role
The Vacation Student – Mine Geology role offers an exceptional opportunity to learn and develop skills related to mine geology work including but not limited to grade control, resource definition and/or Discovery activities.
The position will be on a 5/2/4/3 – 9.5hr shifts schedule and will be based residentially in Red Lake, Ontario.
The compensation range for this role is $29.00-$32.00
Key result areas in this role include:
Monitor material movement using RFID tracking to ensure maximum ore productionMap and communicate geological information, ground conditions and other pertinent geological anomalies.Collect chip samples where required for geological information and grade control.Exposure to creating geological interpretations through modelling.Assist with preparation of diamond drill core for geologic logging and sampling.Gain initial exposure to logging diamond drill core with an emphasis on lithology, structure, and alteration relating to gold mineralisation.Take part in underground diamond drill rig inspections.Maintain databases and analyze data for production and reconciliation purposes.Create a focused technical topic and provide a summary report relating to your summer work.Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation and commitment to satisfy our operation’s goal of being accident-free.Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures.Other activities as directed by supervisorAbout you
As a Vacation Student – Mine Geology, you will be going into your 3rd or 4th year of a Geology degree in an accredited University. It is also important that you have / can demonstrate:
0-1 years of experience in precious metal miningAdapt well to consistent changeWork well in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentExcellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with othersWorking knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs. Some exposure to Mining software (i.e. Deswik and Leapfrog) would be advantageousClosing date:
