Short Term Planner

Engineering () – Red Lake

Be a part of the initial team to grow and operate a regionally significant new underground mine development that is rapidly becoming the future of the iconic Red Lake gold mining district in Ontario, Canada.

Reporting to the Senior Mine Planner, the successful candidate will work 14:14 roaster and will be responsible for providing short term mine forecasts, driving prints and data integrity to support the safe development of the mine to achieve and surpass production targets while adding value to the Red Lake Madsen mine.

The Focus of this role will include:
  • Adhere to safe working practices and all site safety guidelines
  • Generate driving prints and ensure their timely approval and issue to the operations team to guide the development of lateral designs
  • Generate stope mucking and stope back filling prints, ensures their timely approval and issue to the operations team to guide the safe and efficient mucking and back filling of stopes
  • Design and ensure timely approval of barricade and berm mount locations underground to support the safe working of the operations team underground
  • Support the Senior Planner in the generation of realistic task rates, present these rates to management through the monthly task rates assumptions meeting
  • Generate historical mining KPI trend analysis and present to the engineering and operations team to inform the team of our installed resources capacities and recommend mitigations to improve performance
  • Develop and present weekly rolling forecast in compliance to approved 3 months rolling forecast to guide the realization of approved monthly physicals
  • Support the generation of monthly and year-end reconciliation reports
  • Collaborate with Operations to ensure plans are executed according to design
  • Liaise with Geology, Ventilation, Geotechnical, and other departments to ensure plans are practical and compliant with safety, environmental, and legislative requirements
  • Assist with short-term ventilation planning for development headings
  • Update imos software with approved weekly forecast to support mine supervisors to generate daily line ups for their crews
  • Update the iMOS with daily/weekly survey pick-ups and operations documented completed tasks, actual development meters, and stope production tonnes to build a strong database for tracking actuals completed by the operations team
  • Identify and fix data errors or gaps in the iMOS data (missing shapes, wrong statuses, duplicate records etc)
  • Keep clear records and documentation of all iMOS updates and changes made
  • Generate SOPs for all short term planning and data management processes for review by the Chief Mine Engineer and Senior Planner
  • Perform weekly underground tours to assess underground workings state to advice needed actions to support timely development extensions from those headings or project execution within such locations
  • Performed other duties as required and assigned by the Chief Mine Engineer
Skills and Experience:
  • A

    B.Sc Mining Engineering, mine technician, mine technologist or equivalent industrial experience is essential, and a P.Eng. certification or ability to gain P.Eng. is an advantage
  • Experience in long hole designs and project management are desirable
  • Self-starter, strong collaboration skills and effective presentation skills
  • Ability to maintain strong communication network between engineering and other department heads
  • 3-5 years experience with conventional and mechanized underground mining methods and exposure to paste fills, consolidated rock fill and unconsolidated rock fill
  • Advanced competence in the use of Deswik mine planning software to generate optimized mine designs and schedules
  • Strong knowledge of underground mining KPIs and data integrity
  • Smart problem-solving techniques and 3D visualization skills are essential
