Be a part of the initial team to grow and operate a regionally significant new underground mine development that is rapidly becoming the future of the iconic Red Lake gold mining district in Ontario, Canada. Reporting to the Mill Supervisor, the Control Room Operator plans, organizes, directs, controls and evaluates the activities and processes in the mill operation from a central control room.

The Control Room Operator works locally on a 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off schedule.

• Follow safe working practices and site safety guidelines and ensure activities are conducted in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Ontario) and regulations and environment standards.
• Oversee, monitor, control, and optimize the processes of the site through remote control of equipment and communication with field personnel.
• Assess and interpret all standard displays including process graphics, maintenance alarm summary, and system diagnostics.
• Start, stop, and make compensating changes to equipment following standardized procedures determined from panel readings, field information, laboratory reports, alarm systems, or supervisory and engineering instruction.
• Responsible for effectively communicating with field personnel to coordinate the starting, stopping, operation, and changing of plant operating conditions.
• Notify field personnel, supervision, and engineering staff as appropriate of operating irregularities.
• Accurately follow procedures, record data, create required reports, and provide timely feedback to Supervisor and/or Engineering personnel.
• Maintain an accurate and legible circuit log and provide hand over information of process conditions on a routine basis, accurately capturing process delay and curtailment information.
• Direct site operators in the performance of assigned work functions via radio.
• Ensure circuit optimization is achieved by continually monitoring circuit outputs and taking corrective measures to preempt circuit upset of shut down.
• Support and provide guidelines for junior operators on your shift.
• Analyze systems date to evaluate and recommend modifications to control systems.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2-year certification from technical school preferred.
• 5-7 years in a gold milling environment.
• Common Core training.
• Proven safe work practices.
• Good problem solving and decision-making skills as well as superior written and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, influencing, and analytical skills.
• Able to work, day shift/night shift.
• Demonstrated ability to understand the process flow and equipment sequencing.
• Demonstrated ability to understand operating parameters within the milling process.
