This position will involve substituting as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in various schools within the district. The LPN will be available for following through on Individual Healthcare Plans (IHPs) during emergency situations with students. This may include, but not be limited to administration of emergency medications. In addition, the LPN may be involved in non-emergency IHP procedures such as, but not limited to, blood glucose monitoring, catheterization or breathing treatments.

The LPN will work as a team with the district RNs, teachers, specialists, administration and families. The LPN will perform all duties of the position within the scope of Kennewick School District policies and procedures. The LPN will work under the supervision of a district RN and has a limited scope of practice. Other duties may be assigned as appropriate.

LPNs assigned to a student or students in a classroom setting will be required to fulfill the job duties of a para educator while remaining medically vigilant of the student(s) under their care.

• Licensed Practical Nurse licensure.
• Current Health Care Provider certification.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• AA degree or equivalent (72 quarter hours or 48 semester hours of college level credits OR passing score on ETS para educator test.)
• Must present transcripts of highest level of education within thirty (30) days of hire.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be able to meet the Physical Demands of the position.
• Must pass basic skills test.
• Completion of Safe Schools Web Based Training within thirty (30) days of hire and yearly thereafter.
• Must pass a background check, which includes employee paid fingerprinting.
• CPI training must be obtained at the next available opportunity, if required.

• Must demonstrate sufficient command of the English language to communicate verbally and in writing with students, parents, district staff members and other concerned people regarding all aspects of their job related activities.
