Job Summary
We are looking for a hardworking and dependable General Laborer to join our local decking and construction team. Working directly under a Crew Chief, you will be responsible for preparing job sites, handling materials, and assisting in the physical construction of high-quality outdoor decks. This is an entry-level role with opportunities to learn carpentry and construction trades on the job for upward mobility.
Key Responsibilities- Site Preparation & Cleanup: Clear debris, remove hazards, and set up staging or temporary structures before construction begins. Maintain a clean and safe job site throughout the day.
- Material Handling: Load and unload lumber, concrete, and tools from trucks. Transport heavy materials like decking boards and posts to the specific work area.
- Assistant Tasks: Assist the Crew Chief and carpenters by holding materials, measuring, or using hand and power tools (e.g., drills, saws) as directed.
- Digging & Footings: Assist in manual labor tasks such as digging holes for deck footings and back filling once concrete is poured.
- Tool Maintenance: Clean and organize tools at the end of each shift, ensuring they are properly stored in company vehicles.
- Physical Ability: Must be able to lift up to 50–80 lbs repeatedly and work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- Reliability: Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to arrive at the job site on time every morning.
- Communication: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately and communicate effectively with the Crew Chief.
- Responsiveness: Must be highly responsive to phone/text conversations and requests. Candidates unresponsive will not be considered.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
- Experience: Previous construction experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate with a strong work ethic.
- Attitude: Must possess a positive attitude at all times.
- Transportation: Must have/own reliable transportation to and from the jobsite.
- Local Projects: Work within your community with no extensive travel.
