Machine Operator - TIR 1st shift

Apply metal to customer orders and accurately process material according to work order specifications using advanced machinery or an advanced level of skill in the use of warehouse machinery. Ensure processing equipment is maintained in a safe and clean condition. Maintain processing area in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Complete all required information entry accurately. Perform any other tasks as assigned.

1st shift $19-$20 per hour

Key Accountabilities:

• Must be certified in the material handler position.
• Set up, operate, and maintain cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
• Pull, inspect and verify product before processing.
• Properly and safely set up equipment to run material per work order specifications.
• Process set up notes according to work order specifications.
• Verify that product meets set up note specifications per written work instructions and record measurements (sampling plan).
• Communicate with appropriate sales representative regarding changes/clarification to orders.
• Should be able to make recommendations to improve processes in the manufacturing area.
• Perform equipment preventive maintenance; perform general clean-up.
• Properly enter/delete material identification tags per written instructions.
• Balance the immediate workload and assist or direct others as needed.
• Assist in the packaging of material per written work instructions and work order.
• Maintain issued measurement equipment in working condition.
• Properly operate weighing scale and record inspection measurements.
• Identify, record, and segregate scrap and any non-conforming material.
• Provide feedback to supervision regarding machine efficiency and product quality.
• Perform quality checks during machine operation to ensure proper function.
• Complete production/productivity logs and reconcile production data.
• Complete job responsibilities in a manner that does not put self or others in an unsafe situation.
• Train others when required.
• Assist in activities related to lean and/or quality.
• This position works directly on the warehouse floor around heavy machinery.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma / GED
• 1 to 2 years machine operation experience
• Ability to read and write
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
• Perform basic math skills
• Use of handheld measuring tools
• Safety Mindset

Preferred Requirements:

• Previous warehouse experience - especially in the metals industry
• Previous forklift experience
• Computer literate
