General Purpose Of The Position
The Product Development Design Engineer is responsible for the design and development of new fiber optic cable products, including creating detailed designs and ensuring prototypes are built in accordance with design specifications. This role supports the successful commercialization of new products by collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, and other cross‑functional teams to bring innovative fiber optic cable solutions from concept through production.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Designing new fiber optic cable products.
- Supporting materials selection, processing, and assembly for new fiber optic cable products.
- Supporting the testing of fiber optic cable products.
- Preparing engineering plans and reports.
- Supporting the commercial implementation of new fiber optic cable products.
Required
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Able to effectively collaborate in cross‑functional team environments.
- Proficient problem solver that uses engineering principles, structured techniques, and creative critical thinking to generate practical solutions and contingencies.
- Able to adapt and excel in dynamic situations.
- Detail oriented.
- Strong independent work ethic and results driven.
- Proficient using CAD software.
- Proficient in computer and software use particularly Microsoft apps and services.
- B.S. Chemical Engineer, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering from an ABET accredited university or equivalent
