Scheduler / Project Controls Specialist
Location: Kennesaw, GA
Industry: Heavy Industrial Engineering & Construction
Experience Level: Mid-Level (5-10 Years Preferred)
Overview
An established engineering-focused firm specializing in steam, power, and heavy industrial facilities is seeking a Scheduler / Project Controls Specialist to support complex industrial projects. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing engineering and construction schedules for large-scale industrial work, primarily using Primavera P6.
This position is ideal for a hands-on project controls professional with industrial construction experience who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and takes ownership of schedules from proposal through project closeout.Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and maintain engineering and construction schedules using Primavera P6
- Update project schedules on a weekly basis and lead monthly schedule review meetings
- Work closely with design, supply chain, manufacturing, construction, and sales engineering teams to optimize end-to-end project schedules
- Partner with business intelligence teams to leverage productivity data in establishing realistic schedule durations
- Prepare detailed schedule update narratives, highlighting milestone status, deviations, and critical path impacts
- Develop earned value, manpower, and commodity installation reports
- Create customized schedule reports and layouts to meet client and internal reporting requirements
- Review and validate schedule inputs from project teams via calls and site visits as needed
- Support proposal and study schedules for sales and front-end planning efforts
- Analyze delays, assess schedule impacts, and assist in developing recovery plans when needed
- Perform schedule claims analysis, including as-built schedules, concurrent delays, and weather impacts
- Conduct monthly reviews of Engineer and Contractor CPM submissions and provide written variance reports
- Prepare post-construction as-built schedules and lessons learned documentation
- Provide guidance, training, and support to project team members on scheduling best practices
- Travel to project sites as required throughout project execution
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of degree
- 5+ years of experience in Project Controls or Scheduling
- Strong hands-on experience managing schedules with Primavera P6
- Industrial construction project experience is required
- Proven self-starter with a consistent record of meeting deadlines
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Experience with 4D scheduling
- Exposure to InEight Estimating (formerly Hard Dollar)
- Working knowledge of SQL, Power BI, and/or Acumen Fuse
- Experience supporting heavy industrial sectors such as power generation, oil & gas, chemical, pulp & paper, or pharmaceutical facilities
