The Department of World Languages and Cultures offers dynamic opportunities for language learning and cultural exploration, focusing on 13 languages and interdisciplinary scholarship. Faculty provide cutting‑edge teaching and research to prepare students for professional careers in diverse international contexts.
Job SummaryFull‑time, non‑tenure track Faculty Lecturer of German. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate German language and culture courses at all levels, as well as relevant English courses in the Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages and Cultures. Courses will be delivered in face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online formats.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate German language and culture courses across all levels, and English courses supporting the Modern Languages and Cultures B.A.
- Serve the program, department, college, university, community, and profession, including sustained efforts to recruit, retain, and mentor undergraduate students in the German Studies program.
- A Master’s or terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., or foreign equivalent) in German, Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, or a closely related discipline is required at the time of hire.
- OR a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in a non‑related discipline with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline.
- AND native or near‑native fluency in German and English.
- Evidence of successful college‑level teaching experience in German language and culture.
- Experience in program recruitment, mentorship, instructional technologies, language pedagogies, course design, or assessment.
