As a research‑driven, student‑centered Department, KSU's Department of English promotes the study of what is unique regarding human expression to empower students to understand who they are and how they should live, while also helping students cultivate and articulate skillsets that will enable them to thrive in viable career pathways. The Department houses three degrees, English (BA), English Education (BS), and Professional Writing (MA), that honor humanistic traditions while teaching students to make a range of contributions to professional and civic life.
Additionally, the Department is home to core programs in First‑Year Composition and General Education Literature, essential areas to KSU's undergraduate student success ecosystem.
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track faculty position as Assistant Professor of English in the Department of English with a preferred start date of August 2026. This is a nine‑month contracted position. The position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities- Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in AI and interactive media, potentially including Interactive Narrative and Game Writing, Screenwriting, Digital Storytelling, Literature and Popular Culture, Prompt Engineering, AI and Writing Technologies, Game Studies, Games as Literature, Digital Humanities, English as a Field of Study, and/or Careers in English Studies.
- Working under KSU's variable workload model; the typical teaching load for research‑active assistant professors is 3‑2.
- Providing service to Department, College, University, and the professional community.
- Engaging in active scholarship or creative activity in the candidate's specialization; the hire will be eligible for scholarship support via start‑up, department, and college funds, etc.
- A terminal degree, or foreign equivalent, in English or a related discipline, is required at the time of hire.
- Research/creative specialization in AI and interactive media.
- Evidence of a high‑impact scholarly/creative agenda in the areas of creative, professional, applied, and/or technical writing.
- Specific specialization in computational linguistics and/or computational humanities related to interactive media; interest in questions related to storytelling, the nature of humanity in the AI era, and ethics of AI usage in interactive media spaces.
- Interdisciplinary interests and experience working across departments in humanities and/or computational sciences.
- Experience with pedagogies leveraging community writing, service and community learning, and work‑based learning.
- Articulated vision for expanding the impact of English Studies through work in their discipline.
- Experience teaching in face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online modalities.
