Radow College of Humanities & Social Sciences includes eight departments and offers more than 80 programs. The college emphasizes workforce readiness, civic engagement, and experiential learning.
Job SummaryKennesaw State University is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Geography and Geospatial Sciences in the Department of Geography and Anthropology. The preferred start date is August 2026. This is a nine-month contracted position and work is within the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities- Teaching responsibilities will align with department needs and include lower- and upper-level undergraduate courses in geography and geospatial sciences; developing and teaching upper-level GeoAI (Geospatial Artificial Intelligence) courses; and mentoring students in the candidate's research areas.
- Teach courses of variable size and modality, including large classes.
- Engage in scholarship in GeoAI with collaborative opportunities with faculty and students to reinforce a robust curriculum.
- Provide service to degree programs, the department, college, university, and the professional community.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications- A Terminal/Doctorate degree (or foreign equivalent) in Geography, Geospatial Sciences, Geographic Information Science (GIS), or a related discipline, at the time of hire.
- Evidence of expertise in the development and/or application of GeoAI in one or more geographic/geospatial research fields (e.g., natural disasters, climate change, public health, environmental studies, economic development, urbanization, population dynamics, or cultural diffusion).
- Experience teaching lower-division general education courses in geography and geospatial sciences.
- Experience developing and teaching advanced GeoAI courses and other geospatial science offerings.
- Experience teaching upper-division courses in Environmental Geography, Sustainability, Regional Geography, and/or Systematic Geography.
- Demonstrated effectiveness teaching in varying course sizes, including large classes.
- Experience teaching online, hybrid, and in-person large-section courses.
- Evidence of scholarship beyond GeoAI in geography or geospatial sciences.
