Job SummaryKennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice. The preferred start date is August 2026. This is a nine‑month contracted position for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities- Teach core courses in our undergraduate and graduate criminal justice programs. Faculty teach in a variety of modalities, including face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online. Candidates should have experience or willingness to teach large class sections.
- Service to the Department, College, and University is also expected.
- While our standard teaching load is 3/3, it is anticipated this will be a research‑intensive 2/2 teaching load. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a productive research agenda and seek opportunities for external funding.
- Overall, strong scholarship, along with a commitment to excellence in teaching and service, is expected of all tenure‑track faculty members in the Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences at KSU.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications- A doctoral degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Criminology or Criminal Justice, or another closely related social science discipline is required at the time of hire.
- A clear promise of quality research and scholarship.
- The potential for external research funding.
- Experience or expressed interest in teaching large classes.
- While the area of specialization is open, preference will be given to applicants with the ability to teach large major courses, including but not limited to:
Foundations of Criminal Justice, Crimes and Defenses, Criminal Courts, Research Methods in Criminal Justice, Criminal Procedure, Corrections, and Ethics in Criminal Justice.
