Dance Team Coordinator

**** THIS IS NOT A CIVIL SERVICE POSITION. ALL APPLICATIONS WILL BE FORWARDED TO THE PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT****

Part Time: 10 Hrs/Week

To teach beginner, intermediate and/or advanced levels of dance for ages 7 and up. Must be able to choreograph and demonstrate Jazz and Hip Hop. Baton is a plus. Provide music selections for classes. And be a representative of the program for the parents.

To instruct beginner/intermediate/advance classes in preparation for the community performances and marching in Mardi Gras parades. To be the representative for the Kenner Parks and Recreation Department at dance classes for interpretation of the rules and regulations. To be responsible to report to the Kenner Parks and Recreation Department any problems that may occur during class.

Will be required to work at assigned location of class. Work hours will take place during evening hours with some weekends possible, and will be determined by schedule set by the Kenner Parks and Recreation Department, Leisure Service Division.

This individual must be able to read and comprehend directions from the Program Coordinator or Leisure Service Manager concerning various rules and regulations set forth by the Kenner Parks and Recreation Department, Leisure Service Division. Must be able to act as a mediator and supervisor if a dispute occurs during class.

Audio equipment, ballet barre, dance floor.

Standing, bending, moving during instruction time.

Must be able to communicate in English both orally and in writing. Must be able to comprehend verbal or written direction and instructions from the Leisure Service Manager or Program Coordinator.

To be able to monitor and respond in a responsible manner in various situations and to maintain an objective attitude, tact and discretion under these conditions.

Must be age 18 or older with a strong background in dance and at least (2) years of teaching or equivalent dance experience.

(2+) years of class instruction. Teacher certification.
