Job Overview
We support the delivery of individualized healthcare services to patients by assisting a registered radiologic technologist with limited radiographic procedures, adhering to safety protocols and procedures. Collaborates with radiology team members to provide support to patients and physicians during their visit, communicates with patients to ensure timely and accurate care, and maintains accurate documentation of medical information in the company’s data systems.
Responsibilities- Prepares patient for visit by completing documentation, answering questions, and ensuring understanding of procedure.
- Cleans and prepares the examination room for next appointment.
- Verifies physician orders and procedures for accuracy to ensure provider is prepared for visit.
- Maintains radiographic equipment and work area to departmental standards.
- Performs radiology imaging adhering to LSBME standards and ALARA principle.
- Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality standards are met.
- Performs quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards in a timely manner and performs notification/remediation as necessary.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in good standing in an accredited Medical Imaging Program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
- Knowledge of diagnostic radiology procedures and operation/maintenance of radiology equipment.
- Ability to safely operate radiology equipment.
Heavy Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue. Works in a patient care area; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimens that could contain communicable diseases. There may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
