Job SummaryThis job assesses patients and safely performs routine radiographic procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols. Serves as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.
Education- Completion of an approved radiologic technology program (required).
- None required.
- Radiologic technology experience.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR ARRT‑eligible; must register within 90 days of employment.
- Current unrestricted state license in the state of practice.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g., 24/7, weekend, holiday, on‑call availability) and travel throughout and between facilities.
- Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy.
- Use radiology information systems to facilitate care.
- Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
- Operate imaging equipment independently to complete procedures according to protocol, including placement of nasogastric tubes, IVs, urinary catheters, and administration of contrast.
- Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality standards.
- Perform timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards, and notify/remediate as warranted.
- Assist in departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.).
- Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy, introducing appropriately, explaining services or procedures, requesting permissions, and communicating style.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Heavy work:
Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects. Routine duties require regular exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue, and may involve hazardous medications or waste. Occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications exists.
