Health and Safety and Facilities Supervisor

Overview

Permanent - Full-time - 39 hours per week. Based at our Distribution Centre in Kendal, 5 days a week.

This role is to take responsibility for all aspects of Health and Safety and Facilities within our Kendal Distribution Centre. You will build a safety‑first culture and ensure that Health and Safety is the number one priority. You will be supporting the Group Facilities Manager and Health and Safety Lead. Your role will be based in Kendal at our Distribution Centre, ensuring the operation remains compliant with all relevant legislation for Health and Safety.

You will be a lead member of the Health and Safety Committee. You will be the on‑site contact for maintenance engineers to ensure they are able to smoothly and efficiently carry out scheduled work, ensuring Contractors adhere to relevant site rules, work safely and in line with their relevant Risk Assessments and Method Statements. We’re looking for somebody who has a constant, engaging and challenging presence on site to ensure that Health and Safety at all levels of the DC is understood as everyone’s responsibility.

• Lead responsibility for all aspects of Health and Safety and Facilities within Kendal Distribution Centre.
• Support the Group Facilities Manager and Health and Safety Lead.
• Ensure the operation remains compliant with all relevant Health and Safety legislation.
• Act as a lead member of the Health and Safety Committee.
• Be the on‑site contact for maintenance engineers, ensuring work is carried out smoothly and safely, and that Contractors adhere to site rules and relevant risk assessments and method statements.
• Promote and maintain a safety‑focused culture and reinforce that Health and Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

• Excellent knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation within a warehouse or similar environment.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety systems and incident management processes.
• Ability to interpret and implement legislation in a warehouse environment without significantly impacting operational practices and to report on it.
• Ability to manage and maintain the DC Health and Safety systems in a timely and accurate way.
• Clear communication, with the ability to convey messages both verbally and in writing, and strong attention to detail.
