Job SummaryThe Custodian is responsible for the cleaning of the Tribe's Dena'ina Wellness Center (DWC) to include pharmacy, medical records, billing, radiology, laboratory, medical exam rooms, physical therapy treatment rooms, dental operatory rooms, instrument sterilization rooms, elevators. Responsible for maintaining compliance with the Infection Control Program and the CARF accreditation standards.
Essential Functions- Empty all trash cans and replace liners. Wipe down outside/inside of garbage cans as needed
- Vacuum and mop all floors daily and weekly, spot clean carpets if needed
- Transfer Biohazard Waste to the proper storage room
- Clean all bathroom sinks, toilets and mirrors
- Clean tables in break rooms and chairs, clean sinks in breakrooms and coffee stations with disinfectant
- Clean Elevator inside and outside, including doors, clean all glass inside doors and windows, clean all door knobs and handles, wipe window sills and woodwork
- Ensure doors and windows are locked when finished; security of the buildings is a priority
- Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies, and TERO ordinance

Qualifications Education- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED), preferred, or a combination of education and experience in a related field may be substituted for a degree
- Previous Custodian experience
- Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities
- OSHA trained
- Blood borne pathogen training and knowledge
- Current First Aid & CPR Certification, or within 90 days of hire
- Valid Alaska Driver's License and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy
- Biohazard disposal training, or within 30 days of hire
- Training on the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment, or within 30 days of hire
- Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy, or obtain within 90 days of hire, or, with approval of the hiring manager, sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in lieu of having a driver's license to perform the required duties of the position (If Applicable)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, or obtain training within 90 days of hire
- Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful, and kind when dealing with un'ina, visitors, co-workers, and others
- Ability to multi-task, work independently, and meet deadlines
- Must have a high degree of personal integrity
- Knowledge of proper cleanup of infectious communicable diseases and understanding of the procedures of an Infectious Control Program
- Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA and 42 CFR
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work nights and weekends
This position is a Covered Position subject to all requirements of the Alaska Barrier Crimes Act (ABCA) and to the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, (ICPA). ABCA and ICPA requirements apply and must be complied with at all times in order to remain in the position.
