The OpportunityHomer Electric Association (HEA) is a member‑owned electric utility serving the central and southern areas of the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska! We are excited to be seeking a Graphic Information System (GIS)/Engineering Services Representative (ESR) Support Technician to join our team at either our Homer or Kenai, Alaska, location.
Responsibilities- Enter, edit, and verify data in the GIS system; prepare and maintain a variety of database and specialty maps, and submit final edits to the existing database.
- Work with warehouse to reconcile material released to work orders and ensure material tickets and material posted to work orders match.
- Prepare, update, and maintain one-line diagrams, switching diagrams, construction drawings, specification drawings, and related records using electronic mapping programs.
- Conduct training and assist users; provide documentation, guidance and support for the user group and departmental staff on the GIS system application and procedures, GPS systems and Document Control System related to workflow, storage and retrieval of documents.
- Work with or around consumers providing assistance and/or back up to the Engineering Services Representative position. Must provide a highly professional level of prompt, efficient, accurate, courteous and reliable service.
- Associate's degree in computer science, GIS/Geomatics, cartography, or related field and AutoCAD training. An additional four (4) years of related GIS experience may be substituted for degree requirements.
- One (1) year of experience with electronic mapping systems leading to a demonstrable knowledge in the use of GPS technology with an understanding of coordinate systems.
- Electric utility experience working with meter accuracy GPS equipment is preferred.
- Must submit a valid Alaska Driver's license within 90 days of hire date, and maintain a good driving record.
