Substitute Nutritional Services School Year — Join to apply for the Substitute Nutritional Services School Year role at Kelso School District.
Pay Range: PSE 1 Salary Schedule. Substitutes subbing in PSE 1 positions will be paid at Step 1 of Schedule A appropriate for the position being subbed.
Job Summary: The job of Nutritional Services Helper is to prepare and distribute food items for consumption by students and school personnel and to maintain facilities in a sanitary condition.
Responsibilities- Upholds board policies and follows administrative procedures
- Cleans utensils, equipment, and the storage, food preparation and serving areas to maintain sanitary conditions
- Ensures foods reach and maintain proper temperatures and is entered into log book for mandated food safety requirements and for safety of students and staff
- Estimates food preparation amounts to meet projected meal requirements and minimize waste
- Inspects items of food and/or supplies for quantity and specifications of orders and/or compliance with health requirements
- Prepares documentation to provide written support and convey information
- Prepares food and beverage items to meet mandated nutritional requirements and projected meal requirements
- Responds to inquiries from students, staff, and the public regarding type and/or cost of meals
- Reports equipment malfunctions to maintain equipment in safe working order
- Reports accidents or injuries to the Nutritional Services Manager to maintain a safe work environment
- Serves foods to meet mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and staff
- Stocks food, condiments and supplies to maintain adequate quantities and security
- Assists other personnel as required to support work activities
- Bakes items of baked goods to meet projected meal requirements
- Performs other duties and participates in meetings and in-service offerings to stay current in the field
- Takes precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
- Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies
Job Requirements - Qualifications
- Experience
Required:
Prior job-related experience in food preparation, serving and basic kitchen activities - Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities
Required:
Basic arithmetic, ability to adjust recipes to varying quantities, operate and care for institutional kitchen equipment, and computer skills - Knowledge of modern methods of food preparation, health codes and sanitation principles, and nutritional and safety requirements
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods, understand and carry out oral and written instructions, supervise students, and work as a team member with students and co-workers
- Education Required: High school diploma and/or equivalent; prior job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility
- Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing
Required:
Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance; completion of district-administered achievement tests in mathematics, spelling and pronunciation - Other Specialized Requirements: Appropriate Food Handler Permit and Hepatitis A vaccines are required. Neat, clean appearance and regular attendance required
