The Opportunity
Grizzly Excavating is a trusted civil construction contractor based in Penticton, BC. We work with local municipalities, governmental agencies, development partners and residents on civil construction and excavation projects. We focus on road building, water, storm, sewer mainline installations, and sub‑division construction. Since its establishment in 2004, Grizzly Excavating Ltd has become a major player in the Okanagan Valley civil construction industry.
We are currently looking for an experienced Heavy Duty Red Seal Mechanic to perform maintenance and repairs on our large and diverse fleet. Our fleet is made up of excavators, backhoes, dump trucks, loaders, stone slingers, vac trucks, rollers, and other assorted small trucks and tools.

Salary $40 / hour to $55 / hour based on experience.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and dedicated Heavy Duty Red Seal Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy machinery and equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, electrical components, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will play a crucial role in ensuring that our equipment operates efficiently and safely.
Qualifications- Heavy Duty Mechanical Trade Certification – Red Seal
- Minimum of 3 years of heavy‑day mechanical experience
- Experience performing comprehensive troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair for heavy trucks, trailers, excavators, loaders, skid steers and related civil construction equipment.
- General ability to carry out diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems, as well as reading schematics.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage workload effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Must be physically fit and able to work on vehicles with heavy duty tools and able to lift 50lbs
- Appropriate verbal and written communication skills
- Must be a motivated, self-starter with a positive attitude
- Must be willing to work as part of a team
- Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract – Class 1-3 DL Preferred
- Thorough understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to heavy equipment maintenance and repair, with a commitment to upholding safety standards in the workplace.
