The Director of Environmental Services leads the Housekeeping, Laundry, and Maintenance departments to ensure the community maintains high standards of cleanliness, safety, and functionality. This role is responsible for quality assurance, risk management, and regulatory compliance while creating a safe and welcoming environment for residents, team members, and visitors. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Environmental Services supports quality resident care by aligning environmental services operations with the organization’s vision, mission, and values.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Quality & Risk Management

• Develop and maintain quality assurance and risk management programs to ensure compliance with legislative and organizational standards.

• Conduct audits, analyze results, and implement corrective actions to address risks and drive continuous improvement.

• Partner with the IPAC Lead to ensure adherence to infection prevention, safety, and health standards.

Operations Oversight

• Lead and coordinate Housekeeping, Laundry, and Maintenance teams to ensure efficient operations and compliance with provincial environmental cleaning standards.

• Oversee preventative maintenance programs for all building systems and equipment, including life safety and emergency systems.

• Liaise with external vendors to ensure contracted services are completed on time and within budget.

Facility Maintenance & Safety

• Oversee the upkeep of the building, equipment, furnishings, and grounds to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment.

• Manage preventative maintenance programs, electronic maintenance records, and compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety regulations, including Asbestos Management Plans.

• Ensure fire safety, emergency preparedness, and workplace safety compliance, including drills, inspections, and participation in Occupational Health & Safety initiatives.

• Coordinate external services such as grounds maintenance, waste management, and minor landscaping tasks.

Financial & Human Resources Management

• Develop and manage departmental budgets, oversee procurement, and ensure efficient use of resources.

• Approve expenditures, monitor variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.

• Lead, mentor, and schedule team members to maintain high standards, foster engagement, and ensure adequate coverage.

• Conduct performance evaluations, address workplace issues, and promote a positive, collaborative work environment.

Who you are:

• Post-secondary degree or diploma; secondary education in environmental services or related field preferred.

• Minimum 2 years of managerial or supervisory experience.

• Joint Occupational Health & Safety Certification (or willingness to obtain).

• Infection Prevention & Control certification (IPAC Canada) and Ontario Fire Marshal…
