Director of Planning and Development Services
The Town of Osoyoos wants to welcome you as their next Director of Planning and Development Services. Located at the southern end of BC’s Okanagan Valley, Osoyoos has a growing population of 6,000 and is renowned for its stunning desert landscapes, water-based activities, orchards, vineyards, and golf courses. Outdoor recreational opportunities throughout the area include alpine and cross-country skiing and endless walking and recreation vehicle trails that can be enjoyed all year.

As the Director of Planning and Development Services, you are ready to provide strategic direction and operational oversight for the Town’s planning, development, and growth management functions. With your professional and financial experience, you will guide the Town’s land use planning, zoning, community and social planning, development review, building inspection, permitting, licensing, updates to the GIS and mapping systems, and environmental and related regulatory services.

Working in alignment with Council’s strategic priorities, approved budgets, legislative requirements, and community expectations, the Director ensures sustainable, orderly, and inclusive growth while fostering transparent decision-making, strong partnerships, and high-quality customer service.

Chartered Bachelor’s, Master’s, or graduate degree in Planning or a related discipline, combined with significant progressively responsible experience in municipal planning and staff supervision, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum of five years of related professional experience in a municipal or public-sector planning environment.

Membership in good standing with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP).

Training and experience as an Approving Officer is an asset.

Experience in acquisition and disposition of municipal properties is an asset.

Experience in foreshore regulation is an asset.

The role offers an annual wage range of $119,723 to $140,850 (2025 rates). A Supplementary Information Package can be obtained by request from the Consultant, which includes a complete job description and full details of the compensation and benefits.
