Job Description
Our client, Waycon Manufacturing Ltd., based in Penticton, BC, is a leading industrial equipment and machinery manufacturer serving clients across North America. Known for delivering high-quality, custom-built solutions, they support a wide range of industries from a two-acre facility equipped with advanced in-house machinery, state-of-the-art tooling, and cutting-edge engineering technology. Their capabilities span concept design, CNC machining, fabrication, welding, painting, assembly, and testing.
They are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to manage projects from initial quotation through design and manufacturing. In this role, you will ensure projects meet customer requirements, stay on schedule, and maintain high-quality standards in a custom machining and fabrication environment. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, technically skilled engineer with strong project management abilities and hands-on experience in manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage projects from RFQ through delivery, ensuring scope, schedule, and technical requirements are met;
- Review RFQs and prepare accurate, competitive quotations;
- Design and develop custom equipment, components, and systems based on customer specifications;
- Create 3D models in Solid Works and produce accurate, shop-ready manufacturing drawings;
- Coordinate with engineering, production, purchasing, and quality teams to ensure smooth project execution;
- Support the shop floor during manufacturing to address technical questions and design refinements.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology;
- Minimum 7 years of project engineering experience in a manufacturing environment;
- Proficiency in Solid Works, AutoCAD, and project management tools;
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills;
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, engineers, and production teams;
- Experience with machining (horizontal and vertical milling, turning), welding, fabrication, jigs, and fixturing;
- Knowledge of machining fits, material properties and selection, and heat treatment processes.
