Position: Beyond the Bell - Raymer Elementary School - Support Facilitator
YMCA Beyond the Bell is where passion meets purpose—an after‑school program that provides children in grades 1–6 with the academic and social support they need to thrive. Designed to close the achievement gap for low‑income students, this school‑year initiative builds confidence through targeted literacy and numeracy practice in a fun, inclusive environment. Whether you're leading a word game, reading with a student, or sparking curiosity through creative play, you'll be part of a team that champions equity, fosters resilience, and ensures every child has the opportunity to succeed.

This donor‑funded program fills a vital need in local schools, and we're looking for dedicated individuals who are passionate about children and academic success to join us!

Support high quality program planning; incorporating the Y's values

Maintain safety and supervision in accordance with provincial licensing requirements and standards

Operate the center as per the Y's child behavior management guidelines

Build healthy relationships with children, parents, teachers, colleagues and external stakeholders

Actively interact with children ages 6-12 as a play partner and homework helper

Support implementation of play based educational programming, including interactive play, literacy, mathematics, science, building, drama, games, team building, daily physical activity, and sports

Promotes philanthropy and volunteerism through the YMCA

We’d love to hear from people with:

Enthusiastic and positive nature

Willingness to help and make a difference in a child's future. On the job training will be provided

Certificate/diploma/degree in a related field, and/or ECE Assistant certification (considered an asset)

Ability to work independently, make decisions, and execute work with minimal support, in an environment with many urgent and competing priorities

Models sensitivity to the diverse needs of participants, such as literacy, emotional, social, behavioural, and cultural differences and can ensure participant information is kept confidential

Exceptional interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills

Proficient computer skills including use of Microsoft Office tools
