Position Overview
Bunker Hill Mining is seeking an experienced Mine Surveyor to support underground mining operations through accurate surveying, mapping, and control establishment. This role is responsible for tracking mine development, creating as‑built documentation, completing volumetric calculations, and ensuring all mining activities align with planned designs.
The Mine Surveyor plays an essential role in production support and reconciliation. This is a hands‑on position requiring strong technical surveying skills, familiarity with underground mine environments, and the ability to work closely with engineering, geology, and mine operations and technical teams.
Duties & Responsibilities Mine & Underground Surveying- Perform survey as‑builts for all production and development headings
- Establish and maintain underground survey control for as‑built pickups
- Conduct CMS‑style volumetric surveys of production stopes
- Set control for mining activities, production drilling, and planned development
- Support reconciliation through end‑of‑month (EOM) and end‑of‑pay‑period as‑builts
- Produce mine maps, plans, and other survey products for operations
- Generate planned‑vs‑actual maps and update plan/as‑built sheets
- Maintain the design database and an organized archive of all survey information
- Provide specialized reports, maps, and layouts to Engineering, Geology, and Mine Operations
- Set surface control for construction, property boundaries, and mining projects
- Conduct and monitor volumetric calculations for stockpiles and waste piles
- Coordinate with third‑party survey providers (LiDAR, PLS, etc.)
- Track progress of underground and surface development activities
- Ensure development and production drifts remain on‑spec and aligned to mine plans
- Build strong working knowledge of the mine plan and historic workings
- 5+ years' experience in a mine surveying role
- Experience with underground mine survey operations required
- Coursework, certification, or additional schooling in surveying preferred
- Proficiency with 3D modeling and mine planning software
- Ability to use a variety of surveying instruments and technologies
- Strong understanding of mine design layouts, drilling control, and volumetric calculations
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work safely and effectively in an underground mining environment
- Ability to work underground in varying conditions (heat, humidity, uneven ground, confined spaces)
- Ability to walk, stand, climb, and carry survey equipment
- Capable of lifting 25+ pounds safely
- Use of required PPE at all times
