Reports to: Practice Manager, Regional Manager.
Key Partnerships: Operations, Clinical, Support Center.
Department: Operations.
Salary: $20-22/hr (based on experience).
Classification: Non-Except.
Status: Full-Time.
About this roleThe Lead Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) is responsible for supporting the Dentist during treatments, exams, and treatment discussions with patients. This position will oversee back‑office functions, flow, and efficiency. Lead RDAs are required to mentor, train and guide new and existing team members, as well as grow and challenge themselves.
Job Responsibilities- Greet and prepare patients for exams, complete digital charting, and verify codes with precision.
- Capture quality x‑ray images.
- Assist dentists with a variety of treatment procedures.
- Assist with RCTs, Cord Packing, Crown Seat, Denture adjustments, and other complex treatments.
- Familiar with sedation treatments, including treatment information, post‑care, and monitoring (additional training provided).
- Delegate and support setting up and sterilizing exam and treatment rooms.
- Discuss treatment options, importance, and follow‑up recommended care.
- Provide teeth polishing and sealant placement (with required certifications).
- Teach team members how to schedule appointments, treat and care for patients.
- Delegate sterilization of instruments and follow cross‑contamination standards.
- Willingness to jump in and support team members as needed.
- Create positive and uplifting patient environments by patient engagement before, during, and after visits.
- Discuss areas of improvement with the dentist and office manager.
- Manage patient flow and improve the overall process to streamline patient visits.
- Monitor staff and dentist time management to maximize patient care.
- Guide parents and patients through post‑care instructions.
- Assist patients with company‑provided prizes and dismissal.
- Understand and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
- Train and monitor new team members and externs.
- Complete inventory orders and act in accordance with office budget.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Texas issued Registered Dental Assistant licensing.
- 4‑5+ years of dental assisting experience.
- Sealant placement, nitrous monitoring, and coronal polishing certifications preferred (company provides courses for 2+ years of experience).
- Experience with RCT, Cord Packing, Denture adjustments, and Crown Seat.
- Experience training team members and monitoring progress.
- Experience conducting challenging conversations.
- Proficiency in digital x‑rays and digital charting.
