D M Skoda Service Technician Apprenticeship

Overview

Volkswagen Group is recruiting a Service Technician/Mechanic Apprentice at D M Keith Skoda Grimsby. The apprenticeship is Level 3 and will be delivered at the Volkswagen Group National Learning Centre, Milton Keynes.

• Use diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle faults.
• Test parts and systems to ensure correct working.
• Follow checklists to ensure all critical parts of vehicles are examined.
• Carry out bumper to bumper overview, service and inspection.
• Maintain electronic systems including on board entertainment systems.
• Undertake repair and maintenance of vehicle parts including clutches, gearboxes, tyres, brakes and suspension.
• Complete legible and accurate paperwork for customers and centre records.
• Maintain a clean and tidy work environment.

• GCSE grades 9–4 (A–C) or equivalent in English, Maths and Science.
• In Scotland, predicted Scottish National 5 grades A–C or above.
• BTEC first diplomas and certificates, OCR Nationals, Key Skills Level 2, NVQs.

The apprenticeship will be delivered through a combination of virtual classroom remote learning and face‑to‑face block release weeks at the state‑of‑the‑art training centre. Successful completion of the three‑year programme will provide Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard in Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle), Certificate in Automotive Refrigerant Handling and brand specific certifications.

Competitive hourly rate of £7.55 per hour, fully covered training costs, travel, accommodation and meals during training weeks, continuity to a career within Volkswagen Group, opportunities for leadership roles.
