We Are Inspired to Serve. Join us! This position is accountable for delivering patient care according to established policies and procedures. The position is responsible for carrying out direct physical cares, documentation of resident needs and conditions, and when indicated, direction of other non-licensed personnel on the nursing unit. This position may be designated as responsible/charge on a unit on a particular shift, but is accountable to the LPN for monitoring and RN for supervision.
Communicate on a regular basis with the charge nurse regarding observations and suggestions of problem areas, resident and employee activities, concerns, needs, conditions, etc. Observe residents’ medical, mental and emotional conditions and communicate changes to appropriate staff. Provide explanation and offer understanding of nursing care to residents and families according to procedures and provide support relating to medical care as appropriate.
Responsibilities- Assist in the admission, orientation, discharge and transfer of residents including packing/unpacking belongings, placement of personal belongings, initiating needed work orders, orienting resident to the apartment and unit environment.
- Obtain shower and laundry schedule for new residents, assist with dining room seating and introductions.
- Monitor resident rooms for actual or potential safety hazards (e.g., faulty electrical equipment, frayed cords, scatter rugs) and negotiate with resident/family for replacement or removal.
- Demonstrate proper body mechanics in assisting residents, support safe physical activities and lifting/moving items; instruct/reinforce proper technique for residents in the safe use of walkers and wheelchairs.
- Provide direct physical cares and document resident needs and conditions; communicate changes to appropriate staff as indicated.
- On appropriate shifts, serve as responsible/charge on the unit and be accountable to the LPN for monitoring and RN for supervision.
- Education and
Work Experience:
High School Diploma;
Licensed Nursing Aide (LNA) certification; 1 year experience as a Licensed Nursing Assistant in a long-term geriatric setting (minimum). - Knowledge, Skills And Ability:
Minimum of a high school diploma or the equivalent plus at least 6 months full-time experience as a nursing assistant in a long-term geriatric setting; ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information; good observation skills; ability to communicate effectively in English with residents, family and staff; well organized with compassion for senior adults; leadership and cooperation to support rehabilitation and growth. - Physical Requirements:
Able to stand and walk for long periods; bend, stoop and assist residents; lift up to 25 pounds, 50 pounds with assistance, and support up to 100 pounds; manual dexterity and keen vision; may be exposed to infectious materials as part of routine job functions.
Compensation Pay Range: $18.15 - $22.15 per hour
Reasonable Pay Estimate: A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $18.15 - $22.15 per hour. There are numerous factors considered in determining the actual offered rate of pay, including job-related qualifications, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and internal/external equity.
