Registered Nurse, RN. ICU Part-Time

Overview

Cheshire Medical Center’s unit for critical care nursing is a 10-bed suite, focused on caring for and supporting patients and their families while using advanced technological systems and tools to monitor and treat critical illnesses. Each patient room is equipped with an electric therapeutic bed, emergency call system, cardiac monitoring with additional monitoring modules, wall-mounted documentation station, and access to other critical care equipment.

Working with a dedicated team in the ICU, you will perform patient care aimed at stabilizing vital functions, preservation of life, and prevention of complications, restoring patients to maximum functional capacity. The patient population includes critically unstable patients from infancy through adulthood, requiring individualized nursing care based on age-related growth and development and aligned with nursing philosophy, objectives, standards of care, and standards of practice.

• Provide nursing care to patients from infancy through the adult life cycle, using knowledge of growth and development to individualize care.
• Stabilize vital functions, preserve life, prevent complications, and contribute to restoring patients to maximum functional capacity.
• Work with a team in the ICU to monitor and respond to life-threatening situations and complications.
• Deliver 24-hour critical care nursing to medical/surgical patients with unstable vital functions requiring specialized treatment and supportive measures.
• Recognize and treat life-threatening complications with emphasis on total patient care and rapid response.
• Participate in orientation and ongoing education, including opportunities for CCRN certification, and growth through shared governance and preceptorships.

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current NH RN license and BLS certification required.
• ACLS required within 1 year of hire and maintained biannually.
• CCRN preferred, but not required.
• Previous medical-surgical, emergency and/or critical care experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to adapt to stressful situations quickly and effectively.
