The Mechanical Analysis Engineer will support the product design and development of precision optical assemblies that are subject to environments associated with ground, flight and space vehicles. The Mechanical Analysis Engineer performs various analyses to ensure the product will survive limit environments and meet performance requirements while subject to operational environments.
Day to Day Responsibilities- Perform analysis of common survival environments including random vibration, mechanical shock, temperature extremes, and thermal shock.
- Check failure modes including slip of bolted interfaces, ductile material yielding, brittle material fracture, fatigue damage, adhesive and cohesive failure of adhesive joints.
- Evaluate operational environments including heat transfer, elastic and thermo-elastic deformation, vibration response, and “g-release”.
- Collaborate with customers and internal team members.
- Provide feedback and recommendations on mechanical designs of new products and fixtures.
Possible occasional travel to other Corning sites or to customer sites.
Education & Experience- Required Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent. - Required
Minimum Experience:
7 years of mechanical analysis and finite element analysis experience. - Minimum of 5 years of mechanical analysis and finite element experience with master’s degree.
- Mechanical analysis of optical systems.
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software. Nastran or Ansys preferred.
- Organized, meticulous attention to detail, self-starter, and motivated.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook)
- Problem solving and troubleshooting.
- Written and oral communication.
- Ability to work well in a team.

The range for this position is $95,227.00-$ assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
