Responsibilities- Under the supervision of the Lead Teacher and Director, provide direction for the classroom and implement the program curriculum while delivering a quality experience to children and parents that aligns with the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
- Build personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests; respond to all inquiries in a timely manner.
- Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans; supervise the children, classroom, and all activities.
- Conduct parent conferences with the Lead Teacher and maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents; engage parents as volunteers.
- Maintain program site and equipment; maintain required program records.
- Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training (18 hours per year).
- Meets 80% to 100% of the following qualifications: ability to perform duties with professionalism, enthusiasm, kindness, empathy, care, honesty, and respect.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Meets educational and experience qualifications established by childcare licensing.
- At least 18 years of age.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
- Health form completed within 30 days of hire date; renewed every 3 years.
- At least 1 year of experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
- 3 or more years of experience working in a licensed childcare facility.
