Shift Time: 7:00 AM 3:00 PM

The Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) is directly accountable to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the House Supervisor. The OR RN is responsible for delivering direct and indirect perioperative patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
This role supports patients across the lifespan, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and older adults. The OR RN coordinates patient care with surgeons and anesthesiologists, provides direction to OR Technicians and support staff, and ensures compliance with professional nursing standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care (Pre-op, Intra-op, and Post-op)
- Coordinate care with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams
- Direct and guide OR Technicians and other support personnel
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient operating room environment
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives, unit meetings, and in-services
- Act as a clinical resource to other staff as needed
- Support efficient patient flow and continuity of care across departments
- Minimum: 1 weekday call per week (11:00 PM 7:00 AM)
- Maximum: 2 calls per week
- Weekend Call: Once every 5th weekend
- Saturday: 24 hours
- Sunday: 24 hours
- Call is taken from home via personal cell phone
- RN must report to the facility within 30 minutes of being called in
- Call schedule may change based on unforeseen circumstances
- Current and valid State of New Jersey RN License
- BLS (AHA) Required upon hire and must remain current
- ACLS (AHA) Required within 30 days of hire
- PALS (AHA) Required within 30 days of hire
- Minimum 1 year of perioperative (OR) experience or documented on-the-job training
- Cardiac OR experience Required
- Pre-Op and Post-Op experience Required
- Ability to meet on-call response requirements
- CNOR Certification (AORN)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
