POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Golf Course Technician supports the Golf Course Irrigation Technician and the Golf Course Mechanic and is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing golf course maintenance equipment and irrigation systems to ensure safe, reliable, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible operations. This position supports daily operations at and works closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and maintenance staff to maintain playable turf conditions while adhering to municipal policies, safety standards, budget guidelines, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe listed examples of work are not intended to be all-inclusive. They may be modified with additions, deletions, or changes as necessary.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Assist Golf Course Mechanic and Golf Course Technician
-Irrigation in inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing golf course maintenance equipment and irrigation systems, including gasoline, diesel, and electric equipment, mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, small engines, pumps, valves, controllers, and sprinkler heads - Assist in preventative maintenance such as sharpening reels and blades, adjusting cutting units, changing fluids, replacing filters, and maintaining irrigation components
- Monitor and document equipment service and water usage to support regulatory compliance and conservation goals
- Assist with general golf course and grounds maintenance tasks, including equipment operation.
- Assist with seasonal start-up, winterization, equipment storage, and system upgrades
- Ensure all equipment and irrigation systems are safe, properly adjusted, and compliant
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance facility
- Follow municipal safety policies, OSHA standards, and environmental regulations
- Coordinate work activities to minimize disruption to public play and scheduled events
- Provide guidance and training to staff on proper equipment operation and basic maintenance
Duties & Responsibilities
- This position requires working early mornings, weekends, and holidays, and must be flexible with scheduled hours due to seasonal demands.
- A minimum of 2 weekends per month will be required during the peak golf season (March-October).
- Golf Course Maintenance is responsible for snow removal of the clubhouse parking lot, sidewalks, and surrounding areas.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of experience with irrigation systems, grounds maintenance, equipment maintenance, or related mechanical work (golf course experience preferred but not required)
- None Required
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently
- Basic knowledge of irrigation systems, pumps, hydraulics, and electrical components
- Mechanical aptitude with experience in operating, maintaining, and repairing equipment, vehicles, and small engines
- Knowledge of gasoline, diesel, electric, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems
- Ability to read technical manuals and service documentation
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Must be able to walk long distances, bend, kneel, and perform manual labor
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
$19.75 - $29.62/Hourly Rate
