American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU assignment requiring 2+ years of acute ICU experience and active NE or compact RN licensure.
Responsibilities- Work in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) in an acute care hospital setting
- Unit has 33 beds with an average daily census of 16
- Nurse to patient ratios are 1:2-3 for adult patients
- Common patient populations include trauma, cardiac, overdose, sepsis, vascular, renal, heart failure, respiratory distress, post-stent, pacemaker placement, and stroke
- Required to titrate cardiac drips, insulin, sedation, and handle vent setups from nasal cannula to full ventilation
- Shifts are 12-hour nights )
- Travelers may float to PCU and occasionally to Med Surg, maintaining typical ratios of 1:4 or 1:5
- Uses Epic EMR and GE monitors; RNs must read, interpret, and document telemetry strips
- Support from nurse aides and healthcare support techs during high census periods
- Every other weekend and at least two holidays during the contract are required
- Must complete one shift of unit-specific orientation and a pass/fail open-book skills exam during orientation (must achieve 90% or higher)
- Artificial nails are prohibited in direct patient care areas
- Requests for more than seven RTO days per 13-week contract will not be approved
- Block scheduling is not allowed except for weekends only; scheduling duos and shared car arrangements are not permitted
- Must have flexibility to float within the hospital as assigned
- Active NE or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Must provide a copy of valid driver's license to verify residence beyond 50 miles from the facility
- Must not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN in any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
