Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring a NE or compact license and strong telemetry/stepdown skills.
Responsibilities- Position is in an acute care hospital setting on a 40-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Stepdown patient population including adults with cardiac, med/surg, sepsis, stroke, post stent/pacer placement, renal failure, vascular, and cancer diagnoses
- Typical patient ratios are 1:4-5 with nurse aide support at a 1:12 ratio
- RNs are responsible for titrating drips such as Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin
- Expect to manage high-flow oxygen equipment and read/interpet telemetry strips
- Uses Epic for electronic charting
- Night shifts are 12 hours ) with every other weekend required
- Floating required to Med Surg or ICU to care for PCU-level patients
- Minimum of 2 holidays required during contract
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Responsibilities include managing complex cardiac, respiratory, and med/surg stepdown patients and titrating critical medication drips
- Emphasis on teamwork, adaptability, communication, and patient experience metrics
- Only artificial nail-free candidates may be considered due to infection control policy
- Overhead and portable lift equipment available in half the rooms
- Must be flexible with scheduling and willing to float as needed
- Holiday and weekend coverage is required as part of the contract
- All requested time off (up to 7 days) must be submitted upfront for consideration
- Returning employees must not have worked at any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity location within the past year
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, confirmed by driver’s license
- Active NE or compact RN license must be in hand prior to consideration
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS are required
- At least 2 years of recent stepdown or telemetry experience required
- Previous experience with arterial line competency and titrating drips is required
- Ability to interpret telemetry strips is required
- Comfortable caring for culturally diverse adult patient populations
- Completion of orientation and pass/fail open book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% required
- Must provide driver's license for confirmation of residence outside 50 miles from facility
- Must not have been employed in any role (full time, part time, PRN) at a Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
- Submission must include two professional references as specified
