We are seeking a finance professional who can take ownership of critical accounting operations that support both day‑to‑day activities and long‑term strategic decision‑making across the division. This role is responsible for maintaining strong financial controls, guiding operational teams with accurate data, and ensuring reliable reporting across multiple systems.
Reporting directly to the Division Controller, this individual will partner closely with colleagues in Finance, Operations, and corporate functions. The role requires sound judgment, a proactive mindset, and an ability to manage a diverse portfolio of responsibilities with minimal direction.
Core Responsibilities- Accounting Operations:
Lead portions of the month‑end close cycle, including preparation and review of key journal entries, reconciliations, and detailed variance explanations. - Ensure reporting deadlines are met and financial statements reflect accurate, GAAP‑compliant information.
- Maintain and refine internal control procedures consistent with SOX requirements, ensuring proper documentation and risk mitigation.
- Manufacturing Finance & Cost Analysis:
Oversee accuracy of product cost structures, including bills of material, routing setups, overhead rates, and annual cost refresh activities. - Monitor manufacturing performance through analysis of labor, material usage, overhead absorption, and purchase price variances; partner with plant teams to address gaps.
- Manage inventory‑related accounting processes: WIP, cycle count results, physical inventory oversight, reserve analysis, and metrics related to inventory health.
- Support operational improvement initiatives by providing quantitative analysis, cost modeling, and financial guidance for continuous improvement projects.
- Financial Planning & Business Support:
Contribute to the annual budget cycle and recurring forecasts using data‑driven modeling and scenario planning. - Deliver insights related to program profitability, project cost projections, backlog expectations, and risk/opportunity assessments.
- Evaluate capital spending proposals through ROI and NPV modeling and perform post‑implementation performance reviews.
- Systems, Analytics & Process Optimization:
Serve as a subject‑matter expert for ERP platforms and reporting tools, supporting enhancements, data accuracy, and user training. - Promote consistent processes and automation opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and transparency in financial operations.
- Support development of dashboards or analytics that enhance visibility for leadership and operational teams.
- Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and grow team members in cost accounting and financial analysis functions; establish clear expectations and success measures. - Work closely with departments across the division to communicate financial drivers, operational impacts, and improvement opportunities.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ethical behavior, professional accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- 7-10 years of experience in a manufacturing finance or related accounting environment.
- At least five years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting concepts, financial controls, and manufacturing processes.
