Position Overview

Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) – Contract

Job Type: Contract

Position Urgency: Normal

Duration: 13 weeks

Positions Available: 1

Schedule: 12-hour shifts; approximately 72–80 hours every two weeks

Holiday Coverage: Required

Setting: Rural Community Hospital

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Nursery patients
  • Perform couplet care for mother and newborn
  • Monitor labor progress and fetal well-being using intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring
  • Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries
  • Provide patient education and emotional support to mothers and families
  • Serve as Charge Nurse when assigned
  • Float to assist other departments as needed (not as a primary nurse)
  • Accurately document patient care using the electronic medical record
Unit & Patient Volume
  • Approximately 45–50 deliveries per month
  • Rural community hospital environment requiring adaptability and teamwork
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience
  • Experience in Labor & Delivery, Nursery, Postpartum, and Couplet Care
  • Active Hawaii RN license required (must be current at time of submission)
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently in a rural setting
Certifications (Required/Preferred Per Facility Policy)
  • BLS/BCLS
  • ACLS
  • NRP
  • Additional preferred certifications may include: AWHONN / EFM, STABLE, CPI, ENPC, NIHSS, NRP-related or maternal–newborn specialty certifications
Equipment & Systems
  • EPIC electronic medical record (EMR)
Additional Information
  • Reference checks must be submitted via email only (no phone calls)
  • Bilingual skills not required

Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications and hold the required certifications to be eligible for application.
