Main Responsibilities- Initiates policies to comply with safety legislation and industry practices; develops and administers risk‑management and loss‑prevention programs. Acts as liaison to attorneys, insurance companies, and individuals, investigating any incidences that may result in asset loss.
- Reviews and analyzes risk‑management programs for effectiveness and cost reduction, ensuring coverage gaps are addressed.
- Assists plants on asset risk issues, building an ecosystem around increasing competence jointly with the HSE network and the plants that own the related improvement activities.
- Promotes improvement initiatives across Divisions/BUs/Plants on reliability, driving results in collaboration with VP HSE, Asset Development and VP Ops.
- Works cross‑functionally in the divisions and key first‑line of defense contacts at varying levels within the organization.
- Monitors and governs adherence to assessment program elements.
- Supports local risk teams with ad‑hoc deliverables and investigations.
- Creates, edits, and manages multiple facets of risk reporting.
- Executes processes and deliverables that support internal team governance processes.
- Provides first‑line of defense guidance relative to risk assessment programs.
- Tests controls and tracks issues.
- Provides reporting on assessment results.
- Manages, implements, and delivers on a subset of the program deliverables.
- Manages tasks and activities related to risk management initiatives.
- Provides excellent service to both business partners and the COO organization.
- Ensures execution of Management of Change (MOC), evaluating potential health, safety and environmental consequences of technical changes.
- Supports relations with authorities and external service providers when needed.
- Monitors insurance site inspection reports and follows up on top risks under asset integrity (e.g., pressurized vessel risk), other physical risks, and Human Element Recommendations.
- Facilitates monthly meetings with designated regional or divisional perimeter.
- Serves as a go‑to person for Machine Safety Best Practice items.
- Implements condition and structural health monitoring (CSM).
- Ensures inspection intervals are not exceeded.
- Performs risk‑based inspection (RBI).
- Conducts life extension studies.
- Performs fitness‑for‑service reviews.
- Conducts failure investigation studies.
- Monitors and ensures procedures are maintained and implemented.
- Participates in preparation of budgets for inspection.
- Technical specialist (5 years+ experience) with strong knowledge in paper production or process industry and relevant improvement initiatives. Knowledge of specific business lines, products and function services is a plus, especially in Europe.
- Strong domain know‑how in driving asset risk improvement, with knowledge of technical, regulatory and industry standards around pressure vessels, boilers and power generation equipment.
- Willingness to travel; expected to visit plants on demand. Flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances and requirements.
- Technical consulting skills: engineer preferred, able to break down complex problems and add technical expertise to solutions.
- Team player with strong soft skills: ability to interact effectively with people at all levels.
- Strong communication skills with an analytical mindset; fluent in English.
- Currently authorized to work in the United States.
