General Maintenance

Reports To: Maintenance Area Supervisor

Duty Days: 260 Days

Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Grade: A04

Qualifications:

Texas Operator's License

Have knowledge and ability to perform in all trades

Physically able to lift 50 pounds

Ability to follow instruction, written or oral

Ability to comprehend verbal and written English

Primary Purpose:

Help maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Assume responsibility to make minor repairs of any nature in the facilities owned and operated by the district including electrical, plumbing, painting, and/or general maintenance.

Perform repair and/or new work as requested on approved work order request.

Recognize when a specialized trade is needed to solve problems.

Examine district-owned facilities on a regular basis.

Take all safety precautions related to all trades and report to Maintenance Supervisor any hazardous situations.

May be required to work night shift.

May be assigned to work order crew, night PM crew, or locker repair.

Available to work after-hours call-outs and weekends.

Equipment Used:

Power tools (drill, saw, etc.), hand tools, ladder, light truck or van and computer.

Working Conditions:

Continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and odors. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards. Work around moving objects or vehicles.
