About Us Katy Christian Ministries (KCM) is a faith‑based 501(c)(3) non‑profit organization that has served families in the Katy and West Houston areas since 1984. Our mission is "Transforming lives through God’s grace and the generosity of the community". We seek to provide holistic support through our four core areas of focus: food assistance, social services, crisis counseling and advocacy, and thrift stores.
We are a small, dedicated team striving to make a significant impact. We are looking for a highly motivated and detail‑oriented individual to manage our entire financial operation and grow with us into a leadership role.

Opportunity:Your Growth Path
This role is designed for an ambitious Accounting Manager ready to step up. While you will start as the sole accounting and finance staff member, managing all day‑to‑day accounting, we are committed to your professional development. Our goal is for the successful candidate to transition into the "Finance & Accounting Manager" role within 18‑24 months, taking on increased responsibility for strategic budgeting, financial analysis, and potential future staff management.
We offer mentorship from our Executive Director and Board Treasurer and a dedicated professional development budget to achieve CPA certification or other relevant training.
- Full Cycle Accounting:
Complete all general ledger functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and complex journal entries. - Financial Reporting:
Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) for management and the Board of Directors. - Budgeting Support:
Assist the Executive Director in annual budget preparation and provide regular variance analysis. - Audit & Compliance:
Coordinate the annual financial audit process with external auditors and ensure compliance with all non‑profit accounting regulations (e.g., FASB ASC 958). - Internal Controls:
Maintain and improve robust accounting policies and internal control procedures. - Grant Management:
Track and report on restricted grant funding and expenditures in compliance with donor requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with nonprofit exposure.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP; nonprofit accounting principles (fund accounting) is a major plus.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Net Suite) and strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail.
- CPA certification or actively pursuing CPA.
- Experience with strategic financial planning or forecasting.
- Experience presenting financial data to management or a board.
- Experience managing or supervising staff/bookkeepers.
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience: $75,000 to $80,000
