TheOpportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer with strong EPC chemical plant experience to join a growing Houston-based team. This role offers the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle — from FEED through detailed engineering (Phase II & III) and construction handover — contributing to meaningful, high-visibility projects.
This is more than a contract role. With consistent incoming work and strategic expansion underway, there is a strong likelihood of permanent placement for high performers.
What You’ll Be Doing- Lead and support mechanical design activities for chemical plant projects
- Contribute to engineering efforts from FEED through detailed design and construction handoff
- Review and validate:
- P&IDs
- Line lists
- Mechanical specifications and design documents
- Collaborate cross-functionally with process, piping, instrumentation, and construction teams
- Provide technical input during design reviews and support constructability planning
- Help resolve field and technical issues during execution phases
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality, safety, and compliance standards
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5–8+ years of experience in EPC and chemical plant environments (closer to 8 years preferred)
- Demonstrated experience in plant design and project lifecycle execution
- Strong understanding of FEED, detailed engineering, and construction transition processes
- Experience reviewing and developing P&IDs, line lists, and equipment specifications
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced project environment
- Long-term engagement with strong potential for permanent conversion
