Optimized Process Designs (OPD), a Koch Engineered Solutions company, is seeking a Project Associate to join the team. This role will coordinate, monitor, support, and actively participate in all facets of an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) project – from the early development phase to commissioning and turnover. The Project Associate's role will have an emphasis on technical design but is expected to be able to develop the skills necessary to execute projects.
Due to how lean our company operates, this is an excellent opportunity to take on more ownership and be given more exposure during a project from conception to completion.
This role will sit in office Monday – Friday at our headquarters in Katy, TX.

WhatYou Will Do
- Participate in and support the technical design and engineering oversight of project scope for assigned projects through project completion.
- Coordinate or conduct the review of process equipment, vendor selection, and subcontractor services.
- Development of design documents including piping and instrumentation diagrams, valve specifications/lists, piping definitions/specifications, and equipment specifications.
- Liaise and coordinate between engineering disciplines, field construction teams, and subcontractor personnel to ensure sound engineering design.
- Active participation in customer reviews.
- Travel up to 30% to project sites as needed.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews in the office and on‑location.
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering or construction management/technology
- Ability to create and review design drawings and calculations
- Experience with full-scope project responsibilities from FEED phase to mechanical completion.
- EPC design, field engineering, or engineering experience on a plant operations or maintenance team.
- Knowledge of pipe design codes such as ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, and B31.12.
- Experience reviewing static and rotating equipment.
- Working knowledge of material specifications.
- Working knowledge and understanding of industrial construction.
- Working knowledge and understanding of construction and engineering economics.
- Previous work experience in leadership positions.
